The Doggy Diaries Accessibility Statement
Using current accessibility standards, I have tried to make this site accessible to everyone regardless of what browsing device is employed. I welcome questions, comments, and suggestions. If you see something on this web site that you feel needs improvement, or if you have any questions or comments about the accessibility of this site, please feel free to email me.

Standards Compliance
This site utilizes XHTML 1.0 Transitional for structural, semantic, content markup and CSS1 for presentation and site layout. Although this site is best viewed in a modern web browser such as Mozilla Firefox 0.8+ or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+, it should still be usable in older browsers as well as other alternative browsing devices.
All pages in this site are Section 508 approved to comply with the United States Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines. In addition, all pages have been created to comply with priority 1 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Navigational Aids
The home page and all archive pages include a search box that is accessible via access key "4."
All pages have a "home" link to return to the main page.
Hyperlinks
Unless a hyperlink is fully described by the text of the link, all hyperlinks have a title attribute that describes the link in further detail. When at all possible, links have been written to make sense if read out of context. In addition, link text is never duplicated; two links with the same link text will always point to the same address.
All hyperlinks except one open in the same window. In cases where the hyperlink directs you away from The Doggy Diaries, you can easily return by clicking the 'Back' button on your browser's toolbar. There are no pop-up windows on this site. There are no "javascript:" pseudo-links in this site; all links can be followed in any browser regardless of whether scripting has been disabled.
Images
All images have descriptive "alt" attributes. More complex images have a "longdesc" attribute that links to a text-only description that will explain the image to a non-sighted reader. Please note that the inclusion of a "longdesc" attribute to each image requiring one is a work in progress.
Acronyms
I will occassionally discuss technical issues and topics pertaining to web development and computer programming, in general. As such, The Doggy Diaries makes use of many acronyms and abbreviations. Wherever possible, I have defined each instance of abbreviation and each acronym with the appropriate HTML tag.
