Wedding Weather Shakeup

Well, it seems as if this wedding is starting to come together ... all except for the weather. You see, the big day is Saturday, 25-September. I didn't give much thought to the weather until my mom called me on the phone the other day and told me that the forecast from Weather.com predicted “rain” and “showers” almost solid without any break for the next 10 days. This is BAD NEWS. We were supposed to get married on a friend's 40-acre property in the Rocky Mountain range (Can you say “pretty?”), and this forecast does not bode well for us.

The only backup plans we have for moving the wedding indoors is the reception hall at a local hotel where our reception is to take place. This is not the kind of place where I want to get married. Let me repeat. THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE I WANT TO GET MARRIED. Don't get me wrong. It is a fine place for a wedding reception, otherwise, we wouldn't be having our reception there. However, for a wedding ceremony where you will be taking pictures and where you are supposed to be feeling all kinds of romantic, lovey-dovey and gushy emotions, it simply does not work for me. My wedding is supposed to be a fall/autumn-themed affair, so getting married outside would have been perfect. Getting married in the reception hall would just burst my bubble so bad. (I have been waiting A LONG TIME to get married. My baby sister go married before me a few years ago. All of my friends from high school have been married for at least 10 years now. Even my younger friends from my most recent stint in college have already been married for a couple of years. So yes, I am an old maid, and damn it, I feel I deserve a pretty wedding for having had to wait so long while I watch all of my friends and my baby sister get married before me.) Anyway, back to the issue at hand. Not only is the reception hall completely devoid of any type of decoration, but the carpeting and paint on the walls just do not go with my colors at all. Again, as I said earlier, my honey and I considered it fine for our reception. But I do not want to get married in that room. Also, what kind of nice wedding pictures can you get inside a freakin' reception hall? Certainly not the kind I've been dreaming about for a long time now.

So far, the weather forecast shows continual rain and showers through Monday, 20-September. Even if it stopped raining by 25-September, the ground would be too soggy to expect guests to tromp through the mud. I am in desperate need of some good ju-ju. Would all of my readers please say a prayer for me, throw some good energy my way, meditate and talk to your spirit guides to bless my wedding day? Whatever type of spiritual ritual you choose for yourself, will you please throw in a little something for me and ask that the weather please clear up and become beautiful for my wedding day in on 25-September in Kalispell, Montana? I really need all the good vibes I can get because, as I have already gone on and on about, I DO NOT WANT TO GET MARRIED IN AN UGLY RECEPTION HALL.

Thanks everyone!

Kasey, I hope the weather cooperates for you. Here's pulling for good weather. How often are the weather predictions ever true. Good luck and all the best.

Oh Kasey, I'll do whatever I can to help ensure you have good weather on the 25th for your wedding ceremony! How beautiful the pictures and mood will be when it's a beautiful day in the Rockies!
I fervently wish that the weather people in Montana are as far off base with weather predictions as they are here in Ohio!
Now repeat after me - It's going to be a beautiful day on the 25th... It's going to be a beautiful day on the 25th... It's going to be...
Atta girl! :)

Don't worry about weather that is more than a week away. Things can change too much! I really hope that you can hold it outdoors - Kalispell looks so beautiful in pictures...I am envious! :)

Thanks so much for all the good wishes. Just keep sending the positive ju-ju this way!

I talked to my soon-to-be Mom-in-law last night, and she says the weather reports I've been reading seem a bit exaggerated. For example, it said "Rain" and "Showers" almost exclusively for the next ten days, right? But she and my soon-to-be Father-in-law went out to a tractor show yesterday afternoon, and she said the only place there was any mud was where the tractors were doing their demonstrations. She said the precipitation was so light that they barely got their shoes dirty, let alone muddy.

She recommended that I keep my eyes on the weather that's posted at digisys.net, their local Internet provider. I just checked them out, and their weather reports are different enough from the report on Weather.com that I'm not sure which one to believe.

For example, Weather.com shows rain today and tomorrow, a break on Wednesday, and then continued rain and showers every day afterward through 22-September (the last day they report on). Digisys.net, however, although only reporting a 5-day forecast instead of a 10-day forecast, shows rain today, light showers tomorrow, then increased clearing Wednesday through Friday (the last day they report on). You see my quandry? I guess Travis and I will just have to play it by ear and see what the weather is like once we actually get up there.

But again, send all the good karma my way that you can spare! It can only help!!

and just remember if the weather does not cooperate the way you want it to, that the old wives tale says it's GOOD LUCK if it rains on your wedding day!

Just trying to put a positive spin on this for you;-)

Is that really an old wives tale? I hadn't heard of that one. Now you've gone and put a "mystery sleuth" mindset in my brain, and I won't be satisfied until I learn more about this bit of old wives folklore...

Kasey, I truly hope that your Wedding Day will be exactly the way you want it. I will pray for good weather for you and your sweetheart. I am Bonnie's Mom from Ont. Canada and if your weather report is as wrong as ours is here, then you have nothing to worry about. I wish all the best for you and your mate so whether it rains or not don't let it bother you. All the best and you are in our Prayers here in Sunny Canada for a Perfect Day for your Wedding.

Hi Kasey, this is Kristi's cousin, Diane. I'll pray for good weather for you. I got married for the second time a year and a half ago. My first wedding was kind of big (but that didn't help the marriage), the second one was in the court house (and I am so much happier now and have a stronger marriage). No matter what the weather brings, try to remember the most important thing. The love that you and Travis have and that you are taking vows to love and spend the rest of your lives together. The actual marriage part means the most. I know you've waited a long time for the "perfect" wedding and I hope you get it. I also hope you get the "perfect" marriage. Best wishes!

I wish you the very best of everything on your wedding day... and for the many, many years to come. There is a saying in French "mariage pluvieux, mariage heureux" (rainy wedding, happy wedding) but, as others have said earlier, do not believe too firmly in the weather forecast... And I will have my thoughts and prayers your way on that special week end, a sunny and glorious one...

I have a feeling, a very strong feeling, that it's going to be be-utiful next saturday.

And although I have been known to be wrong, it is extremely rare. Usually I'm right.

Best Wishes & Congratulations
