Gov. Schwarzenegger to Veto Gay Marriage Bill
AP is reporting that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has vowed to veto the AB 849, the Gay Marriage bill passed by California's Assembly earlier yesterday and by California's Senate late last week (flying under the radar as news of Hurricane Katrina filled the airwaves and newspapers).
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Wednesday he will veto a bill that would have made California the first state to legalize same-sex marriage through legislative action.Schwarzenegger said the legislation, given final approval Tuesday by lawmakers, would conflict with the intent of voters when they approved a ballot initiative five years ago. Proposition 22 prevents California from recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other states or countries.
"We cannot have a system where the people vote and the Legislature derails that vote," the governor's press secretary, Margita Thompson, said in a statement. "Out of respect for the will of the people, the governor will veto (the bill)."
Well, thank goodness someone in California's idiotic state government has some respect for California's voters.

What's in the water out there? I used to think San Diego would be a nice place to live. But after seeing all the crap going on in CA in general, that state would be the last place in the US I would think about living in.

The Legislature is truly out of control - gone insane with a lust for Power, making up its own laws as it pleases regardless of the Voters. They must think they're the Supreme Court.
BTW: San Diego would be a nice place to live, and it's more conservative than the nutballs up in Sacramento.
