The 2,996 Project
You might be wondering, "What in the world is the 2,996 Project?"
Basically, the 2,996 Project is a way for bloggers to observe the five year anniversary of the September 11 attacks by keeping alive the memory of the 2,996 souls taken from us that horrible day. The basic idea is that bloggers may sign up and will be randomly assigned one of the victims. On September 11, 2006, each blogger will post a tribute to their assigned person on their website or blog. We will "honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers."
A link is available on the 2,996 website to a database of the victims and their profiles so you have some information to use in your tribute.
For more information, or to sign up for the project, please visit 2,996.
The 2,996 Project was only started in June. We need 2,996 bloggers to sign up before 9/11/06, so please, please, please, repost this on your own blog and encourage others to sign up!
P.S. -- I was the 1,156th blogger to sign up. My person is Annette Andrea Dataram, age 25, killed at the World Trade Center and a resident of New York, NY.
