Autumn Color

I was motivated by the Everyday Housewife to snap a few photos this weekend of the newly emerging fall color around our neighborhood.

Here are some shots of two Liquid Amber trees -- ours and our backyard neighbor's. As you can see, they're just starting to get a hint of color. If I can remember, I'll be taking photos of them each weekend, and we can all watch the progression of color together!

I've got more photos, but not enough time to post them all right now. Hopefully, I'll get around to posting them tomorrow.

(Click on the small photos for a larger version.)

Thanks for posting. Didn't think there was much color change out there in California. Living in south east Arizona for a time I missed the change of seasons. I still don't like snow but I do like the seasonal changes.

I suppose you can't miss what you've never really experienced. Because I've never experienced a real change of seasons, I guess I can't miss it! True, we get a bit of color here, but we don't get an honest-to-goodness change of seasons. These Liquid Amber trees (and Chinese Pistache trees not shown) are pretty much the only color I can think of that we get in our area.

I too enjoy the seasonal changes very much but then I've never known anything else.

For some reason I didn't think autumn affected California very much. Not sure why I thought that. I didn't realize CA had anything but palm trees either. It's what I picture when I think of CA. Duh!

Your photos in their larger size are so pretty. It's the bits of reds amongst the greens that I love so much although the golds and browns are pretty too. I'll check back to see what others you've posted and we can watch the progression.

Thanks for the mention, btw! :)

I've loved the fall colors ever since I can remember, and I know that not having an autumn would really throw me into a funk. So, guess I'd better stick to the midwest, eh? ;)

Great pics!

Yep, not too much fall color out this way. The Midwest or Northeast will definitely be the best place for you.

Thanks for the compliments about the photos! I'm starting to veer more toward the "personal" side of blogging. I don't plan on completely giving up writing about politics, and immigration specifically, but constantly writing about it was raising my blood pressure. I felt, and still do feel, helpless to change anything about my world. Ranting about stuff that angered me did nothing to effect change. If I can't change anything, then why focus on it?

Besides, it's so much more aesthetically pleasing to see pictures of pretty trees than photos of some political march or protest, don't you think? ;)
